The Detective Investigators’ Association of the City of New York (D.I.A.) announced today their endorsement of Assemblyman Robert J. Castelli in the 89th Assembly District. The DIA represents over 600 active and retired detectives who work for the five District Attorneys’ of New York City and the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.

In making their endorsement union president John Fleming stated that Assemblyman Castelli has dedicated his entire life to serving his country and his community. “We see in Mr. Castelli a man with an exemplary record of public service. Whether it was his service in Vietnam, the New York State Police, or as a member of the Assembly’s Sex Offender Watch Task Force, Mr. Castelli has always strived for justice and the rights of the individual.”

Another example of Assemblyman Castelli’s dedication to justice has been his service as a criminal justice professor at two distinguished universities. In that position he serves as a mentor to future law enforcement officers.

The DIA recognizes that there must be a voice for change in Albany and Assemblyman Castelli clearly recognizes that the answer must be a bi-partisan approach. As a member of the Assembly Task Force on Real Property Tax Reform he has proven himself to be a voice of reason and someone who is committed to making Westchester County a more affordable place to live and raise a family. We are confident that his experience in government will result in a positive change for the community.

It is for these reasons that the DIA calls on our friends in labor and the law enforcement community to support Assemblyman Robert Castelli.
